The Broughton Explorer is a six-day adventure exploring the area from Broughton Marine Park to Johnstone Strait. This adventure is a classic sea kayaking journey through both sheltered and exposed waters, navigating the many passages and channels in the South and North Broughton.
Highlights include three days of camping and sea kayaking through a maze of islands and islets that offer spontaneous wildlife encounters, and three days kayaking larger, open passages featuring experiences with whales, sea lions, and eagles en route to established campsites. We provide a support boat on these trips to ensure you paddle light kayaks from camp to camp. This trip creates lasting memories filled with colourful sunsets and nomadic travel.
Further highlights include full days of paddling, sightings of diverse wildlife (both marine and land-based), a visit with the legendary Billy Proctor at his popular museum near Echo Bay, paddling through sheltered and moving waters, and the use of three campsites situated where you can fall asleep to the sounds of whales in the distance. The trip covers 80 kilometers of some of the most spectacular sea kayaking in North America.
