SOUTHERN BROUGHTON WILDERNESS EXPLORER

4 Day Trip

Kayaking, Humpback Whales, Sea Lions, Eagles, & Porpoises.

The “South Broughton Explorer” is a four-day adventure trip that profiles paddling in the quiet waters of the South Broughton Archipelago. This trip will use one basecamp from which to explore the many islands and islets of the area. It will highlight a number of wildlife habitats and whale feeding areas on the edge of Blackfish Sound and Blackney Passage. Spontaneous encounters with wildlife and sea kayaking fun passages will fill each day. Our paddling routes will give you maximum exposure to the beauty and resilience of the area that endures harsh winter storms. Photographic moments will be many, and paddling these waters is a wonderful experience. The islands and islets of the area are rugged and well-forested, offering a perfect habitat for wildlife. These trips will take advantage of spontaneous interactions with wildlife feeding and playing in their local environment. Accommodations are large stand-up tents with comfortable beds, perfect for listening to passing whales in the middle of the night. This is a great family trip for children above the age of 12 years old. Options for short hikes, beach walks, and marine biology are all part of the experience in the South Broughton Archipelago.

You can expect to meet a number of local folks who are dedicated to keeping this jewel of nature as you see it now and in the future. Options include a visit to a native site with visible remains of a past culture and an opportunity to see a variety of land-based animals such as otters, deer, and black bears.
